'Coming Back from Injury to Explode for 12th Home Run of the Season' Han Yoo-seom

SSG Landers' Han Yoo-seom (35) showed off his power in his comeback game.  Starting in the No. 5 spot in the lineup against the Samsung Lions in the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Thursday, Han went 1-for-2 with a double, a home run, two RBIs, three runs scored, one walk and one strikeout. In the bottom of the second inning, Han Yoo-seom drew a walk to lead off the inning. Ha Jae-hoon followed with an RBI double and Han Yoo-seom came home to score. It was the first run of the game. With SSG up 2-0 in the top of the third inning, Won Tae-in, Samsung's right-handed starter, lifted a 127-kilometer-per-hour changeup over the right-center field fence for a two-run home run. The ball traveled 125 meters. It was his 12th home run of the season. After leading off the sixth inning with a strikeout, Han Yoo-seom led off the seventh inning with a walk. She then came home on Oh's two-run homer, her third of the game.  Prior to this game, Han

2.53 ERA' Wheeler 'leads NL in Cy Young mock voting!

Five wins and a 0.96 ERA. If there's one pitcher in the major leagues who's been on the rise this season, it's Shota Imanaga (Chicago Cubs). Imanaga started a game against the Atlanta Braves on April 14 and had a rough outing, giving up seven hits and three walks over five innings, but he was able to get out of the jam and keep the game scoreless. Although he didn't get the win, as his team lost 0-2, he did get his ERA back down to zero. At this point, it seems like Imanaga should be a lock for the National League Rookie of the Year award, as well as a frontrunner in the Cy Young Award race. However, the experts have a different opinion. On Thursday, MLB.com released the results of its mock Cy Young Award voting for both leagues. The poll was conducted by 41 participants, who each voted for five pitchers from both leagues, giving them five points for first place, four points for second place, three points for third place, three points for fourth place, two points for f

Pochettino claps and fists 'self-congratulatory' Why?

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has given himself a pat on the back for his side's second-half comeback. According to European soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Pochettino smiled and clapped during his pre-match press conference against Brighton on Thursday (ET) when a reporter said, “Since Dec. 26, only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have more points than Chelsea,” and Pochettino smiled and clapped. He then pumped his fists and pointed his index fingers to the sky in self-congratulation. Pochettino arrived at Chelsea ahead of this season. After a disastrous 12th-place finish in the league last season under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard, the Blues were looking to rebound by bringing in Pochettino, who had previously achieved considerable success in the Premier League with Tottenham. They also spent a lot of money in the transfer market. They brought in Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Both players also broke the Premier League transfer

First QS of the season, Oh Won-seok pleased with his pitching

SSG Landers left-hander Oh Won-seok lived up to his manager's expectations with his best pitch of the season. On Thursday, he started the fourth game of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League against the Samsung Lions at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, South Korea, and pitched six innings of two-hit ball with two walks and seven strikeouts to earn his third win of the season in the team's 9-2 victory. It was the first time in his professional career that Oh picked up a win against Samsung. It had been 214 days since he had a quality start (six innings or more and three earned runs or less) since Oct. 13 last year against the Literature Kiwoom Heroes.  He threw 88 pitches, with the fewest in the second and third innings (eight or more). By pitch type, fastballs (62) were the most common, followed by curves (20), sliders (5), and forkballs (1). The fastball topped out at 146 km/h. Won-seok Oh suffered his second loss of the season in his previous outing on Aug. 8 against the LG Twin

'Shocked' at teammate's exclusion from nominations

Ederson was surprised to see Rodri missing from the Premier League (PL) Player of the Year nominations. Manchester City will host Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on Friday at 4 p.m. ET in the 34th round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (PL) season. City is second in the league with 85 points, while Tottenham is fifth with 63 points. “Ederson said it was unacceptable that Rodriguez was not in the running for the PL Player of the Year award,” ESPN reported on Thursday. Rodriguez is City's “win fairy. He hasn't lost in his last 48 league games (39 wins and nine draws). The three defeats they have suffered this season came when he was suspended. Rodri's influence on the team is evident. It is the centerpiece of Pep Guardiola's tactics. He distributes the ball from the center of the pitch and is quick to switch from side to side. He has played 2,757 minutes in the league this season, the most in the team. Thanks to his performances,
