2.53 ERA' Wheeler 'leads NL in Cy Young mock voting!

Five wins and a 0.96 ERA. If there's one pitcher in the major leagues who's been on the rise this season, it's Shota Imanaga (Chicago Cubs). Imanaga started a game against the Atlanta Braves on April 14 and had a rough outing, giving up seven hits and three walks over five innings, but he was able to get out of the jam and keep the game scoreless. Although he didn't get the win, as his team lost 0-2, he did get his ERA back down to zero.

At this point, it seems like Imanaga should be a lock for the National League Rookie of the Year award, as well as a frontrunner in the Cy Young Award race. However, the experts have a different opinion.

On Thursday, MLB.com released the results of its mock Cy Young Award voting for both leagues. The poll was conducted by 41 participants, who each voted for five pitchers from both leagues, giving them five points for first place, four points for second place, three points for third place, three points for fourth place, two points for fifth place, and one point for sixth place.

The result was that Imanaga was surprisingly ranked neither first nor second in the National League, but third. The pitcher who beat out Imanaga for the top spot was Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler. Wheeler received 19 first-place votes.

Wheeler is 4-3 with a 2.53 ERA in nine starts this season. Both the wins and the ERA are nothing compared to Imanaga.

However, Wheeler has been particularly unlucky this season. There have been times when he's pitched well and his team hasn't been able to score many 사설토토 runs, or his bullpen has collapsed and he hasn't been able to secure the win. Still, he has the edge over Imanaga in terms of “power,” with a 0.99 WHIP and an average of 11 strikeouts per nine innings. “Since arriving in Philadelphia in 2019, Wheeler has always been considered one of the best pitchers in baseball, but he has never won a Cy Young Award,” MLB.com explained.

After Wheeler, Tyler Glasnow (Los Angeles Dodgers) came in second. The right-hander, who joined the Dodgers from the Tampa Bay Rays in a trade before the season, is 6-1 with a 2.53 ERA and 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings in nine starts this season.

Behind Wheeler, Glasnau and Imanaga, the San Diego Padres' Dylan Sease is fourth on the list, while Ranger Suarez (Philadelphia), who leads the league in wins with seven, is fifth.

In the American League, Tarik Skubal (Detroit Tigers) is the clear favorite, sweeping 32 of the 41 first-place votes. The right-hander has continued his dominant season, going 5-0 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and .189 batting average in eight starts this season.

Corbin Burns (Baltimore Orioles) rounds out the top five, followed by Pablo Lopez (Minnesota Twins), Logan Gilbert (Seattle Mariners), and Cutter Crawford (Boston Red Sox).
