WBC nightmare erased, Lee "enjoyed" throwing 6 innings of 2-run relief in APBC Korea-Japan game

Lee Yi-ri (21-KIA Tigers), who had one of the worst pitches of the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) on March 10 against Korea, made a strong impression eight months later when he pitched again against Japan. Manager Ryu Joong-il praised him, and Lee was pleased with his performance. Ryu's Korean baseball team lost 1-2 to Japan in the second game of the APBC Qualifier at the Tokyo Dome on Sunday. South Korea got one run back in the top of the ninth on a solo shot by pinch-hitter Kim Hwijip. Lee received no support from the offense while on the mound and was charged with the loss. Lee showed signs of anxiety in the top of the first inning, giving up three hits and a walk, but showed great command to minimize the damage. After getting out of the first inning unscathed, he gave up his first run in the bottom of the third when Maki Shugo hit a grounder to  토토사이트 shortstop with the bases loaded, but he was able to get out of the jam. A solo shot to leadoff hitter Jusei Mannami i...

'National left-handed ace in the lineage' Lee "International competitions are fun"

Lee Yi-ri (21-KIA Tigers) was shaken up early in the game, but he didn't crumble. Lee's six innings of work (six hits, three walks, two runs) against Japan at the Asia-Pacific Baseball Championship (APBC) 2023 helped South Korea to a loss, but it also allowed them to save their bullpen for the game against Chinese Taipei. South Korea lost 1-2 to Japan in the second game of the APBC 2023 Qualifier at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday. Despite being the losing pitcher, Irie did his job. In the top of the first inning, Irie gave up a leadoff walk to Yuki Okabayashi, but Okabayashi was thrown out trying to steal second for the first out. After back-to-back singles to batters two through four loaded the bases, he struck out Teruaki Sato and got Jusei Mannami to fly out to center field to get out of the first jam. After two walks and a hit batsman loaded the bases with no outs in the third, Maki Shugo singled to shortstop, trading a run for two outs. Sato struck out to preve...

Samsung Lions homegrown ace Won Tae-in, 23, will start against Chinese Taipei in the final game of the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) 2023. Won Tae-in will start the final qualifying game against Chinese Taipei at 7 p.m. on April 18 at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. But at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, wher...

Kim Hwijip, 'Home Run Po' against Korea-Japan

Image
Infielder Kim Hwi-jip (Kiwoom Heroes) was overwhelmed with emotion after activating the home run gun in his first international tournament wearing the Korean flag. Kim pinch-hit for Son Sung-bin with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning of the 2023 Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) qualifier against Japan at the Tokyo Dome on Sunday, trailing 0-2. Facing opposing closer Kazuto Taguchi, Kim swung aggressively at a three-ball one-strike pitch and connected with a 110-meter home run to left field. After being pinned down by Japan's mound for most of the game, Korea managed to score a run on a single by Kim Hwijip. Although the Koreans were unable to pull off the comeback and lost 1-2, they were able to avoid a scoreless defeat and lift their spirits a bit. Speaking to the media after the game, Kim said, "In the ninth inning, the opposing pitcher was a left-hander, so I thought I might go out, but the opportunity came. "If it was a one-run game, ...

'Financial rules breach' Everton confirm 10-point deduction

Everton have been severely punished with a 10-point deduction for breaking the rules. "Everton have been docked 10 points for breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules," the Premier League (PL) secretariat reported on Sunday. Everton has been in the red for the past five years. The club lost £44.7 million in 2022, £102.3 million in 2021, £195 million in 2020, £139.9 million in 2019, and £118.8 million in 2018. These are amounts that exceed regulations. The PL stipulates that each club can spend no more than £150 million to prevent overspending losses. Everton's financial losses amounted to £340 million over three years. In response, the PL filed a lawsuit against Everton in March 2022 for breaching the profit and sustainability rules. It gets worse for Everton. The points deduction will drop Everton to 19th in the league. The Toffees, who are currently 14th in the league with four wins, two draws, and six losses, will have 10 points cut t...
