'HWANG' will play in PL next season...Wolverhampton 'firmly' reject Marseille offer

Wolverhampton Wanderers have firmly rejected an offer from Olympique de Marseille for Hwang Hee-chan.

On December 12 (ET), Sky Sports reporter Riall Thomas said, "Wolverhampton have rejected Marseille's offer for Hwang Hee-chan. Wolverhampton have decided not to sell Hwang Hee-chan. Hwang Hee-chan is Not For Sale (NFS)," the club said.

Hwang Hee-chan is a South Korean forward. His trademark is his aggressive dribbling and physicality, reminiscent of a bull. His style of play is similar to Wayne Rooney's during his heyday at Manchester United.

Hwang made his European debut in December 2014 when he joined Austria's Red Bull Salzburg. After loan spells at FC Leipzig and Hamburger SV, Hwang established himself in the Salzburg first team before moving to RB Leipzig in 2020, also in the same Red Bull division as Salzburg.

However, Hwang was unable to break into the starting lineup at Leipzig. Eventually, he moved to Wolverhampton on loan ahead of the 2021-22 season. Hwang had a breakout season at Wolverhampton. In his first season, he scored five goals and provided one assist in 30 games, leading the club to the English Premier League (EPL).

Ahead of last season, Hwang's move to Wolverhampton was highly anticipated by soccer fans. Last season, Hwang had a disappointing campaign, scoring 온라인카지노사이트 just three goals and one assist in 27 games. Hwang was determined to improve this season, and he did just that.

His hard work paid off. Hwang reached career highs this season. With 12 goals and three assists in 29 league games, he scored double-digit points in the Premier League for the first time. He became only the sixth player in South Korean soccer history to score 10 or more goals in a season in Europe's top five leagues.

In the Premier League, he became only the second player in Asian soccer history to score double-digit goals in the league, joining Son Heung-min. In October 2023, Hwang was named Wolverhampton's Player of the Month and re-signed with the club until 2028 at three times his previous salary.

His performances have attracted the attention of Marseille. Marseille announced the appointment of Roberto De Zervi as head coach this offseason, signaling a change of scenery. The former Brighton & Hove Albion boss had spotted Hwang during his time at the club and spearheaded a move to sign him.

However, Wolverhampton firmly rejected Marseille's offer. Wolverhampton labeled Hwang as a key player for the following season and declared him NFS, blocking interest from other clubs. Hwang will continue to play in the Premier League next season.
