Dutch sensation FW to undergo medical, sign a £60m deal until 2030

Ineos Group's first signing is expected to be Joshua Zirkji.

"Giroud is set to undergo a medical before completing his move from Bologna to Manchester United," the BBC reported on Wednesday (June 12), citing a £33.7 million ($60 billion) deal.

Fabrizio Romano, a journalist familiar with European soccer news, also reported that "Giroud is scheduled to meet with manager Eric ten Haag after the medical. Giroud will sign a 5+1 year contract until 2030. Bologna will receive the transfer fee in three installments."

The Dutch international came through the youth ranks at ADO Den Haag, Feyenoord and Bayern Munich U-17s. He played professionally in Munich. He made his debut in 2019 as a substitute in the sixth leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage against Tottenham Hotspur. He scored his debut goal against Freiburg in December of the same year.

However, he was unable to establish himself in the tough competition for a starting spot. At the time, Munich had a great striker in Robert Lewandowski to lead the team's attack. Zirzi went out on loan to Parma Calcio and Anderlecht to gain experience.

Upon his return, he looked for a team where he could play, eventually landing in a Bologna shirt in the summer of 2022. In his first season with the 메이저사이트 club, he made 19 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Last season, his talent began to blossom. In 34 appearances in Serie A alone, he scored 11 goals and provided five assists, proving his worth as a first-choice striker.

Despite his physical attributes at 6-foot-3, he's not a target-man striker. His biggest strengths are his link-up and playmaking abilities. Despite his lack of goalscoring ability, he is praised for his dribbling, ball retention, and ability to utilize his teammates.

He's also on the UEFA Euro 2024 roster. Zirkji was a surprise call-up to the Dutch national team ahead of the Euros. He had represented his country at various age groups, but had never played an A-match. He made his debut on July 7, coming on as a substitute in the quarterfinals against Turkiye.

It was this potential that prompted United to make a move. United have a striker in Rasmus Hoyle, but after parting ways with Anthony Martial at the end of last season, the Red Devils are short on options. Eventually, they will bring in Zirkic to compete with Hojelin.
