Kim 'Prince Bentoho' Moon-hwan starts at 'left fullback' in Qatar Club Friendly

Former coach Paulo Bento's "crown prince," defender Kim Moon-hwan, is having a breakout season in the Qatar Stars League. He is also a regular member of the squad that is currently competing in the Equality Cup friendly in Qatar.

The match between Al Duhail and Santos took place at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, at 4 p.m. local time on September 9th.

The Equality Cup, a friendly club competition in Qatar, features defending Qatar League champions Al Duhail, along with Brazil's Santos FC, China's Shanghai Shenhua, and Russia's Zenit St. Petersburg.

The tournament was held in partnership with Qatari sports organization Aspire Zone to celebrate Qatar's International Sports Day on February 13th.

Kim left Jeonbuk Hyundai in July of last year to join Al Duhail. He joined the club under Hernan Crespo, but since the arrival of Christophe Galtier in October last year, he has been playing as a left fullback.

Despite his reputation as an international defender, he hasn't been called up to Jürgen Klinsmann's South Korean national team since March last year. His 안전놀이터 absence was unfortunate for Klinsmann, who was plagued by injuries at the left fullback position throughout the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023. It's especially disappointing because he's playing for Qatar.

Although right fullback is his preferred position, Kim started this game at left fullback. This position allows him to link up with his teammate, left wing forward Philippe Coutinho, as he is often involved in attacks.

Kim Moon-Hwan adds strength to both the offense and defense with his steady defense and ability to cover a lot of distance and area.

The South Korean fans at the stadium cheered loudly for Kim, displaying their national colors and Jeonbuk jerseys. It was as if they were in Jeonbuk's home, Jeonju Castle. When Kim noticed Korean fans chanting his name in greeting, he walked up to them and said hello.
